Ljiljana Radonić is the vice-director of the Institute of Culture Studies at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna and from 2019-2024 headed a project funded by the European Research Council (ERC) on “Globalized Memorial Museums. Exhibiting Atrocities in the Era of Claims for Moral Universals”. She wrote her habilitation on the “World War II in Post-Communist Memorial Museums” (Berlin: De Gruyter 2021) at the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna where she also has been teaching since 2004, for example on “Theories of Antisemitism” and “East and South East European Memory Politics Transformations after 1989”. She is a member of the Austrian Delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA); the advisory boards for the Austrian Defense Ministry’s Museum of Military History (HGM) in Vienna; the Program for Teaching and Learning about National Socialism and the Holocaust erinnern.at; the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for the Victims of National Socialism; for the National Forum against Antisemitism; and the Fritz Bauer Institute in Frankfurt am Main/Germany. She was visiting professor at Gießen University in Germany in 2015 and at the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Graz in Austria in 2017. Her PhD in Political Science dealt with the “War on Memory. Croatian Memory Politics between Revisionism and European Standards” (Frankfurt: Campus 2010).
