Reginald E. Kirey

Reginald E. Kirey is Assistant Lecturer at the Department of History of the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He holds an MA (History, 2012) and received his bachelor’s degree (with Education majoring History and Geography, 2006) from the University of Dar es Salaam (2012). He is currently working on a PhD project on Colonial Policing at Hamburg University’s Research Center ‘Hamburg’s (post-)colonial legacy’ under supervision of  Jürgen Zimmerer. His PhD project focuses on Cultures of Remembrance and collective memories of German colonialism in Tanzania Mainland from 1919 to present. His research areas are memory history, resource conflicts and urban history. Parts of his research results were published in Tanzania Zamani, the official publication of the University of Dar es Salaam’s History Department and the Historical Association of Tanzania (HAT).
