Alena Minchenia is a doctoral candidate in Cultural History of Central and Eastern Europe at Lund University, Sweden. She received her MPhil in Gender Studies from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. Her doctoral project “To Be Called the People. On Emotional Stickiness, Protest Subjects, and Resistance in Belarus, 2015-2019” is the ethnographic study of political protests and protest communities in contemporary Belarus that analyses the work of emotions in what is perceived as "failed revolutions". Her research interests include studies of nonviolence and everyday resistance, anthropology of emotions, feminist theory and autoethnography.
